According to the request of test and control system in shooting range, this paper designs a time synchronization system timing by GPS.The global positioning system is the new generation of precise satellite positioning system which is established along with the rapid development of the modern science and technology. It uses the navigation satellite to achieve chronometry and ranging, and has the ability of three dimensional navigation and localization all over the land, sea and the air. The biggest error between the signal 1pps output by GPS receiver and the standard time does not exceed 1μs.The precision of 1pps received by time service of OEM board may reach 50ns.It is a very good time source.This system accomplished the demodulation of GPS time information firstly. And in order to transmit the time information to the test system we designed a code module of IRIG-B code. It can encode DC and AC code. This article not only accomplished the theoretical design and circuit design, but also completed the execution of PCB, and finished the debugging and test. Through the overall performance tests of the system, we know that the error between frame flag of DC code and 1pps signal does not exceed 75 ns. It can satisfy the test system by the time precision request.
