For the mining, collapse pillars are very dangerous. There are many collapse pillars distributing in Xishan Coalfield, and the data about which is also much. At the same time, how to manage and make use of the data efficiently has becoming a new problem. Therefore, the author wants to resolve it. As the development of the database technology, to develop collapse pillars database has become possibility.The database adopts the Geodatabase of ArcGIS and applys the three-tiered database service system which includes the database, spatial database engine and the client server, like the Arcinfo, MapObject, etc. The designing process of the collapse pillars Database comprises three steps: the concept design, the logic design and the physics design. The concept design converts the demands into current information model. The main mission of the logic design is transforming the concept model into the data model supported by the DBMS and expresses it in data describing language. The purpose of the physics design is to store the logic model of the database into the physical memories. As a significant tache of the database technology, the maintenance and management of this database is achieved by the enterprise manager of the Oracle.Finally, the author taking the MapObject as the client develops the scanning system of the Collapse pillars Database by using VB and taking the Arclnfo as the client transfers the data and analyses it. Thus the analytic results possess has very important significances to the study of the collapse pillars.
