Research On GIS Spatial Data Conversion Technologies And Conversion Methods

With the extensive applying of GIS,geography information industry has gotten rapid development in our country.As one of the methods of getting spatial data, the exchange of spatial data has played a more and more important role on the modern construction of GIS. But, the applied range involves many subjects and many departments,at the same time,during the developing GIS time,every department may use different means of data modeling basing on their special things, and use different GIS software from different manufacturers.In addition,every software has own spatical data format which results in the more difference on the structure of geography data. All of these made difficulty on the data exchange among systems built by different GIS software. Additionally,different departments have unlike understanding on the same geography phenomenon and different data definition. These made barriers of sharing and intercommunion of information in the cooperation of every department and resulted that the rate of using spatical data was low and that gathering data repeatly and no compatibility usually happen. So realizing the transform among the multi-format data was always an important problem to solve in the development of GIS application in recent many years.This paper is directed against the above question,firstly, introduces the basic knowledge of spatial data and analyzes the structure of some familiar vector Spatial data.Then from the present situation of conversion of geographic information data, this article explains the elements of data conversion in theory,and narrates some common methods of data conversion .At the same time,the possible problems which before and after data conversion are analyzed.In contrast to the advantages and disadvantages of these methods of data conversion,the article studies the data conversion method from VCT to Shape data format,basing on VC++ and Mapobjects.In addition,the article also writes the conversion program by using advanced computer programming,thus achieving the transform of file formats.Then the VCT files can be applied in the geographical information system(GIS).By studying this task, I know more knowledge about the technology of geography information data conversion and correlative content.Especially,I know more about how to realize the conversion from VCT to Shape with program.
