With the increasingly exploration and development of the mineral resources, it is found more difficult to prospect the minerals with the traditional methods. Therefore, a suit of efficient techniques to survey and estimate the manganese ore has to be urgently set up. The development of GIS provides new techniques to the exploration of minerals. This dissertation is based on the subject "the Application of GIS in Prospecting Manganese ore Resources in western Guangxi-southeast Yunnan" which is a sub-subject to the National Key Technology R&D Program during the 11th Five-Year Plan Period. In allusion to the problems in prediction and estimation of manganese ore resources in western Guangxi-southeast Yunnan region, a field theory based dynamic buffer analysis algorithm, a distance field algorithm based on vector structure data, a basin bay extraction method based on mathematical morphology and a prediction model with combinations of domains are proposed. The field theory based dynamic buffer analysis algorithm brings the field theory to dynamic buffer analysis, which not only simplifies buffer generation steps, but also demonstrates the influences of spatial entity even precisely. The distance field algorithm based on vector structure data offers the Calculation method of the minimum distances from single points to Geological bodies in 2D spatial data environment, which reduces the complex of Calculation. The basin bay extraction method based on mathematical morphology adopts the advantage of direct mathematical morphology calculation, and extracts the basin bay conveniently. The prediction model with combinations of domains uses the geological variable scope combination approaches to model, and chooses the specific model to do the ore generation forecasting according to variable combination multiple priority and F test value priority, then finally well settles the problems of information asymmetry in prospecting and estimating the ores. The main achievements of this dissertation are as follows:(1) Puts forwards field based dynamic buffer model and algorithm for practical needs, and which are applied in quantitative analysis of synsedimentary fault's metallogenesis.(2) Raises the Calculation formula of the minimum distances from single points to Geological bodies in 2D spatial data environment, realizes the algorithm of the 2D spatial distance field. And sets up the distance field to the Latedevonian basin, then analyzes the relation with the metallogenesis.(3) Brings forwards and realizes the basin bay extraction method based on mathematical morphology, and analyzes basin bay mineralization.(4) Proposes and realizes the predicting model algorithm with combinations of domains, which was used in the manganese ore resources quantitative assessment, then delimitates three manganese ore-finding targets.
