Most of military surveying and mapping projects in our country are managed by manuscript file or document at present. With the development of surveying and mapping technology and the increase with the different digital productions, the primary method can not adapt to the development of the situation. The development of computer technology makes progress in surveying and mapping technology, and in the meanwhile, it also brings the opportunity for the management technology of military surveying and mapping projects.The Management System of Military Surveying and Mapping Projects Based on Three-layer Architecture is founded on database, network technology and national different-scale electronic sheet index which is characterized with spatial positioning information, it integrates GIS, MIS with OA on technology and data sufficiently, meets the needs of the PLA General Departments and each Military Area Command, promotes the progress of automatism, standardization and informationization of the manufacture and management of military surveying and mapping projects.Based on the systemic analysis of the mode of data processing and distributed calculation, this paper researches the integration technology of the system. According to the attribute of the system data, it proposed the Management System of Military Surveying and Mapping Projects Based on Three-layer Architecture of COM. Above all, it realized the management of the projects based on LAN (local area network), including the definition, establishment, query, statistic of the projects, the export of the report forms and maps, and the management of the LAN online users. With the process of the system development, it discusses the key technology, such as the concurrency operation of the database in the three-layer framework, the mutual application in cross-platform based on the OLE and the management of the system data comprised of the spatial data and property data and the maintenance of the data dictionary in the client/server mode.
