Virtual reality is a kind of immersive interactive environment base on the computable information. Virtual reality constructs a model in computer which people interacts with and produce the same feedback as the real-world. Its essence is to provide an advanced human-computer interface. Recent years in industrial production computer simulation and virtual assembly technology are used to simulate the products assemble and their working state.This paper gives an introduction to the definition and research of virtual reality and computer simulation. Describes the theories and techniques that used in the simulation of combined well logging instrument, such as modeling, assembly division, model structure in Java3D scene, assemble animation, user interaction, etc. introduces the Java3D programming language and the modeling software SolidWorks.This paper uses Java3D technology and VRML models to simulate the Assemble of combined well logging instrument. To solve the coordination and communication problems in traditional Java3D interpolators, this paper uses a control method based on the Java thread technology, assigns a thread for each motive model, control its movement. The threads started concurrently or in a specific order, communicate to other thread in "wait/notify" mode. Make a simplification and abstraction for the impeller's high-speed rotating status, simulates the status of the liquid flow through the impeller while the well logging instrument is working with a three-dimensional stream line animation. Realizes the interaction between user and the whole scene or individual parts. To increase the mouse picking accuracy, extends the mouse interactive function in Java3D, realized the "pick tip" function. As the use of the multithreading technology, the data consistency between threads is also the contents of the paper.The practical application proves that this system can simulate the assemble process combined well logging instrument accurately and has a better real-time performance and interactivity.
