The 21st century is the era of rapid development of information technology, and the geographic information science experiences the process from traditional to informational.Modern geographic information science as a combination of traditional geographic science and modern information has now developed into a synthetically subject of remote sensing,GPS positioning and Internet technology.With the development of geographical information science,a variety of geographic information system is increasingly used in our daily life and scientific learning, such as electronic maps, car navigation, field data collection, geological exploration, weather forecasting, disaster prevention, etc.Geographic Information System has bring great convenience to our life, and will give us new development opportunities when it combines with embedded systems into mobile geographic information system. Mobile geographic information system deployed in mobile devices which make the use more convenient and flexible, and it allows to use in more harsh environment, which particularly significant in field work. Now the mobile geographic information system is just started, and has great prospects especially for research of special subjects. This paper studies mobile geography information system based on practical application, as to make progress in thematic maps.This paper aims to research the GIS developed technology under the mobile processing platform, which include the geographic information technology, mobile processing platform, data communications, GPS positioning, etc.Firstly, analyze the history of the development process of GIS at home and abroad, and introduce the geographic information technology, especially for the geographic information data structures which is related to the system execution efficiency, so that the user can choose the different data structure for different application requirements. This thesis goes deep into the system architecture and the key technologies of the geographic information science, put forward the solution schemes pointed at problems in the process of development. Design a PDA-based geographic information prototype system, which includes data collection, data display and handling,data transfer, primitive query and GPS positioning,etc.and realize separately in VS2008 and MapX Mobile platform.Solve a variety of different data sources available to the system,data format conversion, data transmission between different platforms,as well as GIS and GPS integration and other key issues.Operating normally,and reached the expected goal after testing.Laid a foundation for further study.
