In power plant boilers, nuclear reactors and chemical, refrigeration, petroleum, metallurgical industry, the process of gas-liquid two phase flow which flow through the header to all of the branches is often occurred. Therefore, how to promote the two-phase flow distribution uniformity, is imperative for improving the economy and security of power plant boiler equipment and other heat transfer equipment. An experimental investigation was conducted to study the two-phase distribution in two horizontal headers that with two inlet turrets in this article. The two headers, one of them fixed a flute fitting, in contrast with the traditional header. Experimental data show that the flow distribution character of the header with a flute fitting is much more better than the old one. Additionally, visualization research was conducted in oder to further study the distribution of two-phase flow characteristics in header. The reason of flow distribution of two headers is qualitatively analysed by the way of observation and high speed photography, as well as, PIV technology.
