Tourism industry which has a tremendous impact on social and economic development, has become the mainstay of China's tertiary industry. The supervisor of tourist attractions has introduced GIS technology to equip the appropriate information systems in order to carry out integrated management of tourism resources and to provide tourist information services. Traditional tourism information system is a simple system which is based on attribute query and management of two-dimensional map. It can not show intuitive, realistic three-dimensional scenes to tourists. Therefore, how to exploit three-dimensional tourism by used GIS technology and virtual reality technology, and combine with the tourism characteristics has become an important research direction of the virtual tour. Along with the development of tourism which is considered cultural landscape as its theme, people begin to seek new tourism resources which are full of adventure and science value. The Geopark which has scientific value, aesthetic value and social value and themes natural landscape and geological heritage has come forth and developed rapidly. However, the study of virtual Geopark which is based on virtual reality technology and GIS technology is still in the initial stage. It has not formed a comprehensive set of the construction methodology of virtual Geopark. The paper aims to establish a virtual Geopark to illustrate the construction methods and techniques of virtual Geopark.Along with the direction of development, this article takes the meander Geopark for example, and uses methods of field survey and case study established a virtual Geopark. The study includes the following aspects:(1) First, it analyzes the status quo of virtual tour and virtual Geopark from the theoretical and technological achievements at home and abroad, and summarizes its main problems:â‘ It has not formed a complete technological system of the Model construction of geological heritage;â‘¡a static scene presentation has been achieved, but the evolution of dynamic simulation has not;â‘¢general virtual tour system of Virtual Geopark only includes basic roaming functions, which has not developed a virtual tour system which contains GIS analysis function combined with virtual reality technology and GIS technology.(2) Second, based on the system analysis on current research, it proposes to solve several key problems of the virtual tour system of Virtual Geopark aimed at theoretical reasoning for the existing problems:â‘ dynamic simulation,â‘¡GIS analysis.(3) Third, it proposes the design goals, design principles and the overall framework of design of the meander, it also designs the function modules of the system and analyzes the implementation steps in detail.(4) Fourth, it discusses the methods and key technology of virtual 3D scene construction, and excogitates the method which combines face and body to construct the models of geological heritage, then, creates the models of 3D scene of meander Geopark. It constructs the models of terrain of Geopark used ArcGIS and does the models of artificial construction and natural landscape used the software of Multigen Creator.(5) Fifth, It develops the system used Delphi 7 development tool by calling Arc Engine graphical interface, realizes roaming, dynamic simulation, GIS analysis, data management, model management functions of the system, enhances the extensions of the system, and makes the system applied in other virtual park.In this paper, it takes the meander Geopark for example to implement the construction of virtual Geopark, and provides a theoretical basis for the development of tourism information. The modeling method which combines face with body can construct the model of the geological heritage quickly and easily. It is convenience for the work of model construction of geological heritage of virtual Geopark. It shows the procedure of the formation of geological heritage to tourists by the method of 3D dynamic simulation, which can help tourists to understand the procedure of the formation of geological heritage. This system also provides a vivid and intuitive carrier for the popularization of geological knowledge. It is consistent with the demand of development of characteristic tourism and personalized travel. It also provides a new method and mean for promoting tourism resources.
