The families Corinnidae and Liocranidae often inhabit forests trees and bushes, and frequently live under stones etc., and are important predators of insect pests. In the world today there are 81 genera and 956 species of Corinnidae and 30 genera, 173 species of Liocranidae. In China today there are reported 11 genera and 45 species of Corinnidae and 5 genera, 9 species of Liocranidae.Using previous arachnological work and a great number of specimens collected from China, and some type specimens borrowed from other institutions, we studied the taxonomic status of Chinese Corinnidae and Liocranidae spiders and here we report the results. The content consists of two parts as follows: the general account and the systematic account. In the general account, the review on the natural history, morphological characters, studied materials and methods, taxonomic system and phylogeny, distribution patterns and faunal characteristics, biology and economic importance and related problems on the phylogeny of Corinnidae and Liocranidae are given. In the systematic account, this paper deals with a total of 70 species belonging to 20 genera including one new genus and ten new species, three new combinations, one new discovery of a male and one new discovery of a female spider. In addition, three newly recorded genera and one newly recorded species from China are discussed. For each of the species included in this paper the following topics are treated: scientific nomenclature, diagnosis, description of one or both sexes, examined specimens, illustrations (when appropriate), and geographical distribution, with emphasis on localities in China. Some species are left as species inquirendae, topics for future study. The new genus described in our paper is as follows: Abdoseta gen. nov. The ten new species are: Abdoseta hainan sp. nov., Koppe jinghongensis sp. nov, Orthobula wuyi sp. nov., Phrurolithus ningxia sp. nov., Trachelas banliensis sp. nov., T. shilinensis sp. nov., Jacaena bannaensis sp. nov., Sesieutes zhui sp. nov., Sphingius cordatus sp. nov., S. deelemanae sp. nov.. Three new combinations are: Otacilia foveatus (Song, 1990) and O. hengshan (Song, 1990) (both transferred from Phrurolithus) and Sphingius sinensis (Schenkel, 1963). The newly discovered male spider is Otacilia foveatus (Song, 1990), and the one newly discovered female is Castianeira hongkong Song, Zhu & Hu, 1997. The three newly recorded genera in China are: Koppe Deeleman-Reinhold, 2001; Jacaena Thorell, 1897; Sesieutes Simon, 1897. The one newly recorded species is: Agrocea dentigera Kulczyn'ski, 1913.
