the judgement of "the relationship of Marx and Engels" and other reasons lead to, a certain extent, ignoring the ideological and theoretical research on the Engels, especially in the social sciences. With the development of Marxist social science, it is necessary to give Engels' social science an in-depth reflection from the ontology, methodology and axiology.Engels's social science research is based on the ontology of social existence. There is the result of the interaction of the practice of social and political, economic and so on. It is an organic unity of contradictions based on the structure. It is unity with nature but reflect the subject. As the ontological characteristics also determine the overall Engels social science research methods, its meaning is to link social existence as an organic whole, in the whole, the various units, elements, some or all levels of interactionof, any unit, elements, parts or level of who can not leave it there or run alone, and any element, elements, parts or levels can not be formed as a social being, change, development of "only" decision factors that must will be other implications. Under the holism, there are three specific ways: class analysis, conflict analysis and system. As the ontology of social being and the methodological characteristics of holism, Engels upheld in social science research the interpenetration of facts and values. the study of fact must reflect the value .This value of Engels' social science research are embodied in the nature of revolutionary and the mission of liberation .In general, social science research highlights Engels two major characteristics: first, critical; second, dialectical unity.
