Welding Automation has the advantages of increasing production efficiency, optimizing product`s quality and improving working conditions, etc. So it can vigorously promote the economic development of the manufacturing .The development of the seam tracking technology which is a necessary for the welding automation technology has a great significance.In this paper, Seam Tracking System Based on Photoelectric Sensor has three main components, namely, Photoelectric Sensor, a sub-system of control and the executive machine .The whole control system is consists of MSC-51 microcomputer hardware and the corresponding control software. The executive machine has two parts, one of parts is called welded car ,the other is the double -cross slider machine.the system has two different signal acquisition-processing methods for the different surfaces of workpiece: For the normal surface of the workpiece, it uses the method of comparing the signal; for the polished surface of the workpiece, it use another different kind method of signal processing—subtraction-divided method. Therefore, it can effectively improve the accuracy and adaptability of the photoelectric sensor by these ways.Based on the experience, the executive machine is made up by welded car and double -cross slider machine. By the theoretical analysis of the system, we establish the corresponding mathematical model, and design the Fuzzy-PID control system which can meet the requirements of the system. Fuzzy-PID control system uses a program switch to convert . when the warp detected is big, the Proportional control is applied; when the warp detected is small, Fuzzy technology is applied. The conversion of program switch is decided by the warp range. By the simulation, it shows that these methods are not only simple and reliable, but also more accurate for the seam tracking.After the welding experiment and simulation, it shows that seam tracking system based on photoelectric sensor can meet the requirements of designing generally, it can develop more better in the future.
