Gas is the product of geological processes. Occurrence condition of coal seam gas today is the result that coal-bearing strata undergo complex geological history, suffering from gas generation, migration, storage conditions and other comprehensive geological control.This paper uses the theory of regional geology evolution and sequential tectonic control theory to study gas occurrence law of 15 coal seam in Tianchi mine. To figure out the role of structural control on the gas, analyse the mining area where lie—Qinshui Basin and its history of the formation and evolution and coal characteristics. Analyze how regional hydrologic geology to control gas. Tectonic evolution of the mining area and coal storage geologic evolution impacted the gas generation, storage and transport. Analyze the characteristics of gas occurrence in mine region which belongs to the basin margin slope. Study the cause of collapse column and its influence on occurrence of gas. Finally, combined with field measurement data of gas content, gas pressure, analyze different geological factors how to impact the impact the gas occrurrence in Tianchi mine, use the mathematical method to predict the gas concentration distribution, and predict absolute gas emission of coalface through using the method of gas geology statistics and sub-source prediction, then take a comparison to the predicting result. Through analyzing gas pressure of 15 coal seam and prediction parameters of gas outburst, identify 15 coal seam have the risk of gas outburst, and divide into regions about coal and gas outburst.
