With the development of society, knitwear outerwear technology, fashion, comfort, personalization has become a global trend, and thus a major knitwear manufacturing equipment flat knitting machine with the higher performance requirements. High-speed, multi-function flat knitting machine is targeted, the high-end market demand for flat knitting machine design, which has a high weaving speed and commutation speed, which also increased a variety of supplementary features, able to control the the size of coil and yarn tension precisely, so that the fabric quality has been greatly enhanced. Meanwhile, this flat knitting machine has enriched the human-computer interaction function.A three-tier distributed control system was designed to meet the requirements of the high-speed, multi-function knitting machine. System is divided into: human-computer interaction layer, the main control layer and head control layer. Independent design of human-computer interaction control layer on the one hand makes a more powerful computer interaction, on the other so that the host controller from the complex task of dealing with human-computer interaction freed so that a higher processing speed, shorter needle response time. Distributed design of main control layer and head control layer, reduce the line connection between the control layer, improve the stability of the system, while allowing the system's processing capacity and processing speed greatly increased.In order to meet the high-speed, vast amounts of data communication requirements between human-computer interaction layer and main control layer, a FPGA-based parallel communication module was designed, which has a high communication efficiency, high integration and versatility features.In view of high-speed, continuous CAN communication demands between main control layer and head control layer, CAN communication control procedures based on three cache mailbox were designed, which enhance the communication speed between the two layers and the speed of commutation action.In order to improve the speed of commutation, a fast-commutation algorithm was designed , which uses commutation distance auto-adjust and commutation action executed in parallel control mode.After a long-term tests of the prototype, show that the machine was running smoothly, weaving speed meeting the design requirements, higher-quality clothing pieces. In addition, the control system costs far less than similar foreign products, with strong market competitiveness and development prospects.
