Analysis On Suitability Of Human Residential Environment Of Liaoning Province On The Basis Of Ecological Factors

The living conditions and ecological background of residential environment, not only directly related to the people's quality of life and health, but also affect the development of human society. The scientific method of measuring the suitability of human residential environment is significant to the definition of functional regions, the government's introduction of the orderly flow and reasonable distribution of population and the promotion of a coordinated development of the population, resources and the environment. Liaoning Province is one of China's open coastal provinces, located in the kernel region of Northeast Asia economic belt. It's rich in natural resources and the urban modernization level is higher, but as the Old Industrial Base of Northeast China, there exist some unavoidable environmental problems, particularly when the"Five-Point One-Line"strategy was advanced in 2006. Liaoning Province had entered a new development stagy, but it also faced unprecedented opportunities and challenges of human settlements environment and ecological conditions.In this paper, five second-level indicators and fifteen ecological factors were employed to establish the evaluation index system based on the theories at home and abroad. By the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Synthetical index method rank the suitability of human settlement environment of Liaoning Province from 2002 to 2007 according to the integrative scores, and establish the spatial pattern of the suitability of human settlement environment based on the reliable data of Liaoning Province of 2007.And also analyzes the cities'suitability and limiting factors. At last, analyzes the differences of suitability of human settlement environment by Theil index.Results showed that: the index of suitability of human settlement environment in Liaoning Province was between 41.98 and 80.34; considering area, the common suitable region ranked first, accounting for 36.07% of the total area of Liaoning Province; critical suitable region ranked second, about 31.37% of the total; and the most suitable region account for 17.36%; and rather and comparatively suitable region ranked last, about 14.85%. But 63.25% of Liaoning's population was concentrated in the common suitable region and the most desirable region, and 77.83% of Liaoning Province distributed in the common suitable region or above, the corresponding area accounts for 68.27%. Through the analysis of the cities'suitability and limiting factor, per capital GDP is the fundamental factor which resulted to the suitability of human settlement environment.The differences among the three regions of Liaoning Province is far greater than the inner differences of themselves, the contribution rate is above 76.44%. The inner differences between the eastern and western of Liaoning Province are the same, but the trend is decreased at first and then showed a considerable increase, it suggests the regional urban development is uneven. The differences of the suitability of human settlement environment in western of Liaoning Province were decreased, and there is a significantly different in recent two years. While the differences of western of Liaoning Province assessed a small share of the total province, and it remains decreased.
