With the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization, the contradiction between ecological environment and human resources has become increasingly prominent.Quantitative measurement of sustainable development level of a country or region and effective evaluation of human utilization of natural resources have become important research topics. The ecological footprint theory quantitatively measures the gap between natural capital supply and demand, measures the sustainable development of the region by comparing the natural resources of human consumption and the natural resources and services provided by the ecosystem service system. However, the traditional ecological footprint model does not distinguish flow capital and stock capital, and the calculation results have certain limitations.Based on the traditional ecological footprint model, the three-dimensional ecological footprint model incorporates footprint depth and footprint size into the measurement category, which has dual attributes of time and space.Firstly, more than 40 items of consumption and production are selected to establish an ecological footprint account suitable for Liaoning Province. On this basis, calculating the equivalence factor and yield factor from 2000 to 2017.Based on these, establishing the traditional two-dimensional ecological footprint model, and then measuring and analyzing the ecological footprint, ecological carrying capacity and ecological surplus.Secondly, introducing footprint depth and footprint size, building three-dimensional ecological footprint model, and using polynomial regression analysis, statistical curve fitting method and the concept of "scissors difference" to clarify the dynamic change characteristics of natural capital stock and natural capital flow in Liaoning Province.Secondly, introducing footprint depth and footprint breadth, building three-dimensional ecological footprint model, and using polynomial regression analysis, statistical curve fitting method and the concept of"scissors difference" to clarify the dynamic change characteristics of natural capital stock and natural capital flow in Liaoning Province. Finally, based on LMDI method, analyzing the ecological footprint of Liaoning Province. The conclusions of this paper are as follows:1)There is a significant difference between the equivalence factor and yield factor calculated by national hectares and global hectares;2)the ecological footprint of Liaoning Province is larger than the ecological carrying capacity in 2000-2017;3)the natural capital stock is consumed every year from 2000 to 2017 in order to meet the production and consumption needs of Liaoning Province;4)ecological environment utilization efficiency and economic level are the main driving forces for the change of ecological footprint in Liaoning Province.Based on the above conclusions, the paper puts forward the suggestions for reference manly from the following aspects, including optimizing land use spatial layout, adjusting energy consumption structure, accelerating the development of innovative industries, and establishing a long-term ecological supervision mechanism, etc. The innovations of this paper are as follows:The global equivalent factor can not reflect the land productivity and socio-economic development characteristics of the research object.1)taking the average land productivity of China as the standard, adopting the average unit yield of land, calculating equivalence factor and yield factor based on "national hectare",which can highlight the land productivity and socio-economic development characteristics of Liaoning Province in different periods, and then improve the accuracy of ecological footprint.2)using the exponential decomposition method to analyze the influencing factors of the ecological footprint, which can avoids the problem that the commonly used index system method may ignore some influencing factors. The shortcomings are as follows:1)due to the availability of data and the fuzziness of some indicators, the accounting account system of ecological footprint needs to be improved. If conditions permit,in future research, clean energy such as wind energy, solar energy, pollution items such as sewage purification, waste disposal process and so on should be included in the account.2)due to limited data acquisition, this paper takes Liaoning province as a whole to research,in the subsequent research, can try to obtain the ecological footprint account data of each city, and deeply explore the spatial and temporal characteristics and relationship of ecological footprint of each city through spatial statistical analysis.
