Ecological environment is the natural space of human life. Oasis is not only unique geographical landscape of humanity, but also its ecological sustainability constraints population growth, so the proper population is an important maintenance force in survival oasis. In view of mutual conditionality of population and ecology in oasis, this paper studied the sustainable relationship between population change and ecological environment as an example of Minqin Oasis. Based on it, constructs sustainable development model of oasis ecological population using ecological footprint method and relevant statistical data to analyze moderate population in the study area. Its purpose lies in analyzing oasis sustainable development from the perspective of population changes, exploring oasis sustainable road of population and ecology, and providing reference recommends for oasis ecological restoration. Results are as follows:There are three development models of oasis ecological population: (1) The actual population N is greater than ecological carrying population C or N-C> 0, namely: deficit's development model of ecological population; The actual population N is less than ecological carrying population C or N-C> 0, namely: sustainable development model of ecological population; The actual population N is equal to ecological carrying population C or N-C= 0, namely: ideal saturated development model of ecological population.Ecological population overloads seriously in the Minqin oasis for study area, the existing development belongs to deficit model of ecological population. Oasis minimum subsistence population is 24,600, and 24,600 to 150,000 region is named coordinated development of population and ecological in Minqin oasis. Balance point of ecological population is 151,000 in Minqin oasis, and the region of 151,000 to 200,000 belongs to balanced development stage. At the same time, 24,600 to 151,000 is fully coordinated stage. Through comprehensive anaysis it comes out that oasis eco-population should be controlled 24,600 to 200,000 in order to achieve sustainable development model.Ecological environment is survival carrier of oasis population, and appropriate development of population affects oasis survivability directly and indirectly. It shows positive relation between moderate population growth and stability of oasis ecology. It demonstrates negative when the population growth rate is more than ecological optimum population. Their relationship shows reverse when the population decreased rate is faster than the degree until the ecology unpopulated area. Moderate population growth is the basis of oasis ecosystem stability, while the level of population quality determines oasis sustainable development. Ecological migration policy in addressing ecological pressure issues has also changed the structure of oasis population, so the fundament solving existing problems lies in optimizing population structure and innovating ecological model. Population is survival key to Minqin oasis, and its sustainable development is the key element of restorating oasis ecosystem.
