In response to manganese pollution in the source water, this article investigates the domestic and international technology of removing manganese, and researches the new technology in the situation of emergency by productive experiments, according to the characteristics of removing the manganese of surface water.Though the analysis of the quality of the source water and the manganese's content of the sediment when the manganese of the water is supercritical,the main source of the manganese is thought the release of the sediment. The exchange of manganese is correlated with the temperature and the oxygen soluted in the water. Then the attention of the atmosphere and the oxygen soluted in the water will be helpful to the precaution of the manganese in the source water.The analysis of the effects of the getting rid of manganese shows: the effect of the chlorine to the manganese is 50% in the stage of coagulation and deposition. When use potassium permanganatethe , the getting rid of manganese would reach 94% . But if the potassium permanganate is over used, manganate will be carried in.So the dose of the potassium permanganate should be adjusted correctly according to the content of manganate and the organics.When the potassium permanganate and the chlorine being used at the same time correctly, the getting rid of the manganate would reach above 95%.This method is very suitable when the quality of water changes frequently ,especially when the manganate changes severely。Active carbon is effective to the getting rid of the by-products of the chloration in the experiment. The location is ahead of filter.The productbility experiment of the getting rid of the manganate by the pre-chloration shows it a feasible emergency's solution. The mechanism of this method exists in two parts: one part about 40-55% of manganate in the water being got rid of at the stage of the coagulation and deposition though oxidation in the clarifying basin;another part is got rid of in the filter chamber. The remainder of the chlorine keeps the manganate to become sand on the filter's surface. The right dose of chlorine in the exit of the deposition pool is the key point.
