Flame retardant finishing, one of protective functional finishing of textile, has always been one key point of the study on fabric functional finishing[1]. However, the flame retardants used for cotton still have some problems currently, including poor durability and producing environmentally harmful substances during the processes of production and use[3]. Phosphorus flame retardant could be used as a kind of environmentally friendly flame-retardant and it has good flame retardancy and well application prospect. Usually researchers would like to design nitrogen and phosphate into one flame retardant system for further study. Silicone flame retardant, for its little nocuity to environment, has become the researchful focus at present. Silicon, used as flame retardant has its particular superiority. For one thing, there is a high content in the nature; for another, it is easy to get[2].Therefore, this study used phosphorus oxychloride, methanol, phenol, propylamine, y-amine triethoxysilane (silane coupling agent KH-550) as raw materials, synthesized a flame retardant FR-PN containing phosphorus/nitrogen and four flame retardants FR-PNS,FR-PNS2,FR-PNS3,FR-PNSB which had active groups of phosphorus/nitrogen/silicon. The structure of the obtained compounds were characterized by IR and 1HNMR, the results showed that the structure of the prepared compounds were identical with the expected ones. The flame retardants can be prepared and used conveniently which can reacted with cellulose without the cross linker and there was no formaldehyde in the preparation and application process. In this study, the flame retardants which we synthesized were also applied to the cotton fabric via the pad-dry-cure method. The flame retardant which had excellent flame resistance capability was selected, and then the reaction conditions and after treatment process of the selected flame retardant were studied and improved. In this paper, the following conclusions were obtain: Conclusions:It is effective of Phosphorus and Nitrogen on flame-retardant finishing cotton fabrics, and the addition of Silicon has increased the role of flame-retardant. It is beneficial to flame retardant effect when the content of Phosphorus Nitrogen and Silicon increases, however, the carbon content is reversed. Our experiments results revealed that FR-PNS2 possessed more favorable flame retardant effect, and the optimum prepared parameters of FR-PNS2 as follows: the molar ratio of Phosphorus oxychloride and the KH-550 was 1.2:2, temperature was 65℃, and time was 12h. FR-PNS2 used in flame retardant finishing of cotton fabric, finishing conditions as follows:the amount of Flame retardant was 200g/L, the optimum amount of catalyst was 25g/L, curing temperature was 170℃. The wrinkle recovery angle of cotton fabric increased from 80°to 95°fter finishing, and breaking strength loss was within an acceptable range. The sodium phosphite as catalyzer when cotton fabric was curing finishing by use of flame retardant and the fabric exhibited fastness to washing after finishing.
