As an environment friendly low cost technique, Trenchless Technology has been widely applied in construction of underground pipelines in some advanced countries. However, it is not so good in China, because of many reasons. Of them, it is a very important reason that some government departments, project owners and contractors can't see its economic index clearly. In order to compare the economic indexes both of No-dig and Cut-open, research work on quantitative analysis for indirectly environment benefit of trenchless technology is a very important. Based on Quantity Economics, Evaluating Theory of Environmental Benefit and Project Cost Theory, a set of environment benefit evaluating indexes has been put forward in this thesis, which may be used for economic analysis of trenchless technology. This thesis emphasizes the establishment of environmental benefit evaluating index system for the application of trenchless technology. The paper was mainly consisted of three parts. In the first part, the oversea and domestic actualities and development trends of the trenchless technology were introduced. In the second part, it was affirmed that to assess environmental benefit is necessary and feasible by relevant theoretical analysis. And in the third part, a set of environmental benefit evaluating index system was established in term of HDD application. One applied program for quantitative analysis has been developed. The research achievements of this thesis may be used for quantitative analysis of environmental benefit of trenchless technology, and may provide decision basis for the application of trenchless technology.
