The process parameters of electric upsetting include: velocities of upsetting cylinder and anvil cylinder, heating current, preheating length and time, etc. Because different materials have different mechanical, electric and thermal characteristics, and there are effects between different parameters, the determination of those parameters becomes a complex problem. Besides those there are many assistant parameters. Good products could be manufactured only on the condition that those parameters could be matched each other. Traditional electric upsetting machine's automatization level and intelligence level are very low. It has some limitations, as following:1. In processing the parameters are invariable.2. If the condition changes (such as temperature changing, wear and material changing etc), the machine can't adapt itself to maintain the product quality.3. Changing over to new products the parameters have to be groped. During groping, there will be lot of waster products and it will waste a lot of time.Based on investigating and technical testing, this paper researches the electric upsetting process comprehensively, puts forward a over-all parameters control system, a intelligent upsetting project, a "Spherically upsetting method" and a detecting pressure梒ontrolling temperature method innovatively. It is the first time to use the intelligent control theory in electric upsetting, put forward a defect removing experts system and temperature control fuzzy experts system, as following:1. Method of reconstructing intelligent upsetting machine from a traditional one, changing the parameters to controllable.2. The effects of parameters on product quality. Put forward the process parameters' calculating method.3. According to the effects of upsetting cylinder velocity and anvil cylinder velocity to the shape of formed parts, the paper put forward a "Spherically upsetting method"which maintains formed shape as a sphere. The author designed and made a computercontrolled experiment equipment, by which the "Spherically upsetting method" was proved.4. Based on summary of expert control strategies, a defect removing experts system is put forward. The dynamic characteristics of upsetting velocity are also analyzed.5. Put forward a innovative method of reckoning deforming temperature by detecting deforming velocity and deforming pressure. According to the temperature reckoning method and electrical upsetting engineers' experiences, a "temperature control fuzzy experts system" is put forward. The temperature could be controlled by adjusting heating current or upsetting velocity.6. Designed the software scheme of electric upsetting control system.The results of the research have enriched the electric upsetting process theory, and could be applied to manufacturing practice directly. It will advance developing of intelligence electric upsetting machine.
