Tsobutene is an important chemical material. It is the monomer of butyl rubber and raw material of other chemical products. It is one of the best way to yield isobutene by decomposing MTBE. A new catalyst, 8162 modified by A12(SO4)3 and adjusted by halogen, was studied. The preparation of the said catalyst was studied. The investigation shows that different modifiers and their impregnation concentration and time, calcination temperature have a great effect on the catalyst. Also the function of the different halogen and their impregnation concentration time, calcination temperature had been studied. It was proved that the said catalyst was an excellent solid acid catalyst. The MTBE conversion , methanol selectivity and isobutene electivity are respectively 96% , 99.8% and 100% under the conditionof 150℃, O.SMPa, LHSV=2h"' on the micro-pilot plant. The MTBEconversion and methanol selectivity of the X-Al2O3/SiO2 are respectively 5% and 2% higher than the YL-1 that had already been applied on industrial plant. The catalytic activity of the said catalyst was proved to be largely related to its acid property and value. In addition, the modifier, halogen and their soaking concentration, calcination temperature have some effects on its structure and performance.
