Macrocyclic polyamines metal complexes as enzyme models are widely used in chemical biology, medicine and gene therapy. In this thesis, novel macrocyclic polyamines and their zinc complexes have been designed and synthesized. Some useful results have been obtained from the study on their catalytic efficiency ir DNA cleavage.A new type of dinuclear macrocyclic polyamines zinc complexes bridging with flexible spacers has been prepared. Moreover, a mononfunctionalized macrocyclic polyamines zinc complex has also been synthesized. The synthetic methods of the title compounds have been discussed in detail. The catalytic cleavage of plasmid DNA(PUC18) by macrocyclic polyamines zinc complexes has been investigated. The results show that the flexibility of the spacers in the complexes takes great effect on their catalytic efficiency and regioselectivity.
