According to the similar properties between zironium sulphophenylphosphonate and sulphopolystyrene, we for the first time replace the phenyl sulphuric acid group in the zirconium sulphophenylphosphonate with low polymerization degree of sulphopolystyrene to realize the coexistence ^ modification and optimation of each other' s properties, in doing so, a brand new type of solid acid catalysts based on different supports have been successfully produced. A detailed study about the reaction conditions of each step has been made and the optimium reaction conditions for corresponding steps have been got.Both the middle products and the end ones have been characterized by means of techniques like IR spectroscopy^ TG-DSC, titration and so on.Methods of titration and indicators have been used to determine the acid volume of unit quality and surface acid strength of different catalysts based on different supports,results indicate that the highest acid volume of the catalysts was 23.537mmol/g with a acid strength range of -11.35 acetal and ketal formation have first been studied using the catalysts with high yields.The catalysts were simple in operation,easy to work up,and have no drains off of waste acidic liquor during reactions.The catalysts can be reused and regenarated after simple treatment for many times.They were solid acids with good catalytic properties.Study shows that poisoning and aging will lead to the decrease of catalytic activityof the catalysts .Many unfriendly materials will either block the micropores of the catalysts, or reduce the number of the functional groups of surface area, or reduce the surface area of the active components, these changes will then result in the decrease in the catalysts' activities. The factors which will directly result in aging or accelerate the aging process of the catalysts were also studied.The catalysts which have bigger ion exchange capacity were also a new kind of cation exchanger.They are likely to be used to get rid of cation impurities in polluted wastewater or to extract useful substance from mixtures. The brand new catalysts are supposed to have a promising future in the 21th century when people all over the world have come to pay more and more attention to the environment protection .
