The rapid development on social economy, the continual increasing of world population and the dramatic development on human's urbanization, all of these brought about diversity of crisis and challenge to people's housing condition. On the background of this, the dissertation studied the ecotype city construction such as Hohhot city, which is famous for its history and culture and located in the drought and semi-drought region. With the help of theory on sustainable development domestic and abroad, the author combined the method of dynamic state with static state to research the construction of ecotype city on Hohhot city deeply from respects of social, economy and nature. Furthermore, the author used the methods of GIS software, social scientific software, metrology, mathematical statistics and theory of ecotype city, systems engineering and environment scientific to conclude Hohhot's developing situation and biological degree. On the ground of realizing its limit factors, the author put forward the detailed developing countermeasure. Through the studying on Hohhot city's ecotype urban construction, explore a sustainable road for the north historical and cultural city, and attain its "twin-win" target of economic sustaining development and ecological environment optimization continuously.
