Oridonin and ponicidin in Rabdosia rubescens were identified by TLC with the spots clear and reproducible. Quantitative assays were performed on active components of oridonin and ponicidin by HPLC.They had good linearity with the range of 0.152?.52 u g ?ml-1 (r=0.9998) and 0.1?.0 u g ?ml-1(r=0.9992) respectively. And the average recoveries of them were 97.2%(RSD=0.6%)and 97.8%(RSD=0.7%).The two methods can be used for the quality control.It was proved that the former was better through bacteria inhibiting and killing test of the extracts of Rabdosia rubescens by the SFE-CO2 and the traditional process.After the test of the kind of modifier, extraction time, carbondioxide volume, pressure,temperature and the flow rate of the modifier,we drew the curves of the influence factors; The supercritical carbondioxide extraction (SFE-CO2) of Rabdosia rubescens was optimized with the aid of orthogonal design by using oridonin,ponicidin and the weight of the extract as quality control criteria.the good result was obtained by extracting as P=30Mpa, T=50 .Cand the ratio of the material and the entraner (l:1.5,w/v).Compared to the traditional extraction process,SFE-CO2 of Rabdosia rubescens was proved to be efficient,simple and save the extracting time.It is feasible to extract Rabdosia rubescens by SFE.So the craft of the SFE-CO2 of Rabdosiarubescens is appliable.
