The Design And Application Of Chinese Style Furniture Ornament And Structure's Database

Classical Chinese furniture developed from ancient times. It reached its zenith in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Each age was marked by its own distinctive artistic style. Ming furniture is characterized by a simple and elegant structure with fluent lines and appealing proportions. Qing furniture in constrast is larger and more imposing with elaborate carving and inlaid decoration. These two types of furniture reached a high level of artistic success and can claim a place in history of world furniture.In order to clearly find the classical Chinese furniture styles' character, this paper introduced how to use modern computer technology of database to collect and study information of Chinese ancient furniture. And how to classified furniture information by its structure, mode and ornament picture. It was the base of modern Chinese style furniture study, because they can provide design element to modern furniture design and information resource to furniture study.At first, this paper introduce the definition of Chinese style furniture, the origination reasons, the characters of Chinese style furniture in structure and ornament.In aspect of database design, mostly combine the character of Chinese style furniture. The functions have data insert, browse, query and report functions. In browse function we can realize the picture zoom and auto play. It make user clearly see the furniture part structure and ornament. This database collect plenty of furniture information of each time, it will greatly increase the study efficiency.Because the Chinese style furniture database is the first step of classical Chinese furniture study and realize the modernization of furniture. Application foreground is very wide. First, introduce how to use the furniture database in Chinese style innovation. Analyzed and summarized modern Chinese style furniture innovation approach. Second, detailed data connect with convenient database management system provide a new method to furniture study. And use the database to analyses the furniture information of the Warning States Period and Song dynasty, and use contrast method study the furniture legs of differences of Ming and Qing dynasties. Last, introduce this database in furniture teaching.
