The ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) is widely used in applications due to its outstanding properties. But the applications are influenced by the shortages of UHMW-PE, such as the bad processing properties, the lower surface hardness and the lower thermal deformation temperature. In this paper, one of the studies was the filler modification of UHMW-PE/HDPE. There were three kinds of filler, which were glass microballon, wollastonite and CaCoj/talcum. The mechanical properties, wearing quality and fluidity of the composites were investigated. The result showed that the UHMW-PE/HDPE composites filled separately with glass microballon and CaCo3/talcum, which content was 30 percent by mass, had the better-integrated behavior. On the other hand, based on force-lubrication mechanism, the installation including a lubricated die for extrusion of UHMW-PE was developed. The extrusion of UHMW-PE/HDPE blend by co-rotating twin-screw extruder was permissive and effective. The sheets could be produced easily, which surface flatness and finish were excellent.
