With the continual development of GIS technique and 3-D visualization technique, information system based on which is widely used to many fields, such as mining, geology, geotchnical, Geophysics. On the base of GIS technique and 3-D visualization technique, the paper, 3-D visualization information system of working faces of mines based on GIS, is developed by MAPGIS second development library, Visual Basic and Visual C software. The purpose to develop this system is to improve the editing, browsing, dynamic query, scientific management to data information of the working faces of mines. This can provide reliable technological base for safety production and management of mine.The paper analyzes the application of the critical technique such as GIS, 3-D visualization, and so on. The 3-D visualization information system model is founded. The paper relates different data information with different pixel. The paper realizes cutting section for coal seam and the simulated demonstration of the mining process. The paper realizes these functions such as edit, inquiry, management, analysis maintenance, and so on.
