The Research On Open Numerical Control System Of Laser Cutting Machine

Laser is one of the most important inventions of last century. Its usagein industry has grown steadily and with great success for the last 20 years,especially in the manufacturing industry where the majority of the largeindustrial lasers for cutting are found. Being one of the most importantapplications of laser in industry, laser cutting is a kind of advancedcutting technology in the world. Because of its advantage, it resolved a lotof problems in industry. It can process most metals and nonmetals easily.But laser cutting machine is comparatively precious. It is noticeable thatin the last few years the laser cutting market has experienced a largegrowth in the demand of more small seized economical lasers. According to the requirement of new type laser cutting machine, thisarticle analyses the particularity of laser cutting control and thenimplements an open CNC system which is based on industrial PC.Besides the DMC motion control card which is the core of the open lasercutting control system, this article also presents the techniques of severalmain parts. Based on above hardware system, the software part isdeveloped. The software part is based on Windows operation system, and itmakes good use of the abundant resource of Windows. With the utilizingof object-oriented method, a friendly human machine interface and anefficient multithreading working environment is fulfilled. This work setsup foundation for further research. In addition, this article is provided with two data conversion modules.One can convert international standard NC code into DMC command.The other is an automatic NC graphic programming system based onAutoCAD platform. All these modules improve the working efficiencyand practical application worthiness of the system to higher extent. This new type of system is more reliable, more powerful, moreopening and more economical. So it is can be widely used in the future.
