Drug carrier is widely used for it can control drug release, maintain higher drug concentration in local area , do little harm to normal structure . It may be classified into polymeric carrier and inorganic carrier according to the demand of its operation place . In the cure of osseous tissue affection , inorganic carrier are commonly used oβ -tricalcium phosphate ( β -TCP) apply in orthopaedics embedded material extensively because of its degradability and good biocompatibility . In the article ,we made porous β -TCP ceramics drug carrier . In the process of preparation, we have β -TCP as the basal material , then a ratio of binder and paraffin are added into the powder of β-TCP, slip casting by hot-pressing, mold unloading, sintering. Incur experiment ,the powder of β -TCP are prepared by solid phase reaction, the result of XRD shows the β -TCP made by this method is pure. In the course, the content of binder are controlled in the range of 20%~25%, the content of paraffin ranged from 40%~45%, sintering temperature ranged from 900 C~950 C . Within the limits of above parameter, different samples are made , then its obvious porosity, permeability, density , compressive strength are measured. The results showed obvious porosity range from 40%~65%, density from 1.41~1.53g/cm3 permeability from 2.1 10-7mm2~3.3 10-7mm2, compressive strength from 3.8~6.5Mpa , compare their physical performance difference, we can draw a conclusion: more binder, less paraffin , higher sintering temperature are available to density and compressive strength; on the contrast, lower sintering temperature, less binder ,more paraffin will lead to higher porosity, permeability .In addition, the rate of drug release of porous β -TCP ceramics drug carrier in vitro are also measured. The result proved not only the porosity, permeability of drug carrier but also the solution of medicine have effect on rate of drug release. Higher porosity, permeability of drug carrier and good solution of medicine , the drug release rate is quicker, thus the drug release rate may be controlled by adjusting the porosity, permeability of drug carrier . At the same time ,the mechanism of porous3 -TCP ceramics drug carrier are discussed, and then present a viewpoint that the drug release are controlled by drug stripping and penetrating from micropore.
