The level of total cyanide is high in the wastewater letting from the production of C6H5CH2CN.But the dissociative cyanide level is low. So it is hard to treat this kind of water by alkalescence chlorination. A method (coagulation-deposition) is developed in this paper. The effects of the kind and dose of flocculant, pH value and agitation intensity on removal rate were investigated. In the optimal reaction conditions, the effluent was achromatous, and its cyanide concentrations was less than 1mg/L, and the water is achromatous.
