Micaceous iron oxide has extensive uses on the rust -proofing paint, magnetic material, ceramics, and preparation of pearl pigment etc. The micaceous iron oxide used now in our country basically comes from the exploitation of the specula- rite, its quality is not better than that of the synthetical product, and the methods of synthesis were studied less. A lot of studies in this aspect have been done in some developed countries in Western Europe, Japan, and America etc, and some methods have been industrialized. The by-product of TiO2ferrous sulfate cannot be effectively used enough in our country over a long period of time. Aiming at solving some above questions, the dissertation has done some works as follows.At first, the craft and conditions of the synthesis of micaceous iron oxide with by-product of TiO2-ferrous sulfate by hydrothermal method was studied through experiments. The factors affecting synthesis of micaceous iron oxide were discussed, the controlling conditions of red, brown and gray products were concluded, and some effective measures were adopted to settle the problem of using SO42- and make the medium circulate in the process of crystallization.The second, on the base of the craft that had been studied in the dissertation, the influence on the crystallization and property of powder were studied in the process of preparation of micaceous iron oxide, and the principles were also studied through experiments.In addition, on the base of the craft of the synthesis of micaceous iron oxide with by-product of TiO2-ferrous sulfate by hydrothermal method, the craft of the synthesis of red iron oxide and yellow iron oxide with ferrous sulfate by hydrothermal method were studied and exploited. And these studies have some significance for adapting to the change of market and organizing production of a series of iron oxide pigments.The results of this study have some significances in environmental protection and economical benefits, and they indicated a new craft for manufacture of micaceous iron oxide, yellow iron oxide and red iron oxide for vast factories of TiO2-production in our country.
