Micaceous iron oxide is divided into two categories: the gray one and the red one. Due to its special structure, which is like mica, people call it micaceous iron oxide. Because of its stable chemical properties, such as uvioresistant, thermostability, none toxic and flavorless and so on, it it has been widely used in variety of field. China is rich in iron ore resources in the cloud, large reserves, and the mineral is better. But for the development and utilization of micaceous iron oxide, less serious waste, no professional manufacturers, promotion of research is far behind the world level. Micaceous iron oxide pigments can save non-ferrous metals, lead, zinc, chromium, titanium, aluminum. So, the development and utilization of micaceous iron oxide pigment is worthy of exploitation.In this experiment, choosing the micaceous iron oxide made from specularite of Anhui province(national standard, 250 mesh) and tetrabutyl titanate as the starting material. Put tetrabutyl titanate into ethanol, adding glacial acetic acid or dilute hydrochloric acid as inhibitor. Turn them into chelate by stirring to control the butyl titanate homogeneous hydrolysis and decrease the hydrolysis product of reunion, known as the Ti O2 precursor. Add the colloid into micaceous iron oxide solution by once, with electric stirring and400 RPM / min of rotation speed, Completely reacted. Precipitate to make sure that stick to the micaceous iron oxide evenly. Filter, desiccate, roast under the temperature of 820℃, and then get the micaceous iron oxide pigment finally.Through single factor experiment and orthogonal text, this paper focus on three experimental conditions: p H, reaction temperature and reaction time to study the influence of micaceous iron oxide pigments. Experimental results show that the p H is the most important factor. If the p H is too small, micaceous iron oxide will dissolve, in contrast,it may affect the hydrolysis of butyl titanate.On this basis, this thesis draw the conclusion that control the p H of 5, reacting temperature of 60℃, and reacting 4h is the optimum experimental conditions.Using scanning electron microscopy, energy spectrum and X ray diffraction to characterize and analysis, the results show that the production under this conditions have brightly color, fine and uniform Ti O2 particles which can coat in the micaceous iron oxide evenly,and rarely occur agglomeration effect. The coated on the surface of the micaceous iron oxide is the rutile titanium dioxide which chemical property is more stable. So the micaceous iron oxide pigment have greatly improved the weather fastness and its service life, so,it is more suitable for outdoors in bad weather.
