Quality of forging has intimate relations with quality of ingot. Quality of ingot is to a great extent connected with its solidification process. By means of numerical heat transfer theory and advanced computer, a competer program is written to simulate temperature field distribution in the process of solidification. It is fundamental in assessing internal quality of ingot. It is great helpful for guiding production and improving quality of ingot.A two-dimensional unsteady temperature field calculation mathematical model has been formulated here by analyzing ingot solidification process and the various heat exchange boundary conditions in simplified condition. Hence program is writeen. Then, The program for temperature distribution of solidification process is obtained after adjusting.Change of the temperature distribution for ingot with similar structure is also computed by the program during solidification process. Traditional experiments of ingot mould design is drawn on .The existing ingot mould structure has been redesigned and optimized to raise forging rate and improve quality of ingot. Designer may predict and assess temperature field of steel solidification in new-type ingot mould. Meanwhile, designer may optimize design of ingot mould by comparison.It is the first phase for study of simulation soft .It is fundamental in studying deeply on ingot solidification and provides reference for optimization design of ingot mould structure.
