The problem of soil environment in our country is stressed increasing, soil contamination becomes the serious hidden trouble of the quality safe of agricultural products. To administer field land pollution and to develop high quality safe agricultural products become urgent task. It has become the hot point to produce safe agricultural products in clean soil. This study is involved in the background investigation of typical farming district soil environment quality of north part of JiangShu province. On the foundation of collecting related information, soil environment quality of this area is appraised. Appraisement conclusion is as follows:1. Comparing with standard of GB /T18407.1 -2001 and DB32/T343.1-1999, 381500 mu land which cultivated with grains and oil crops and 16835 mu land which cultivated with vegetables are in one grade soil level. 99.1% of the investigated soil is accord with requirement of production place environment quality of harmless agricultural products. It shows that the land soil environmental quality of this district is clean in general.2. Comparing with the soil natural background value standard of "Soil environmental quality standard" (GB 15618-1995), it is appraised that every pollution factor of each sampling point of whole district exceeds standard in varying degrees. In which chromium and mercury is relatively serious. The comprehensive pollution index change from 0.37-1.74 and average index is 0.73 which belongs two grade soil level (clean yet).3. According to harmless standard, there is only one town of which mercury in soil cultivated vegetables exceeds standards, belonging 2 grade soil level (clean yet). Soil of other towns all reaches one grade soil level, which accord with the requirement of production place environment quality of harmless agricultural products. Comparing with the soil natural background value standard, more than half of the towns have various elements of heavy metal exceeding standard. The soil of individual towns belongs three grade soil level (light pollution), which shows that the soil is polluted lightly. It should be paid necessity attention.4. The average proper rate order of every pollution factor of the soil cultivated with grains and oil crops is as follows: Chromium > copper > cadmium > arsenic > mercury > lead > DDT > 666, and that of the soil cultivated with vegetables is as follows : Mercury > chromium > cadmium > arsenic > lead.On the foundation of above conclusion, the corresponding application countermeasure for establishing classified suitable planting district has been put forward in this paper.
