The ecosystem of Dongting Lake wetland is a lake ecosystem being of distinctive characteristics.It is necessary to being of distinctive characteristics.It is necessary to evaluate the ecosystem services function values scientifically,not only because Dongting Lake wetland has special geographical position and particular functions, which play an important role in controlling flood in the whole Yangtse river basin, but also because it can protect the bio-diversity, regulate the climate, and purify the water. This paper consulted many documents and materials in home and abroad about the ecosystem services functions' restoration and evaluation. On this basis, it analyzed the system characteristics of Dongting Lake wetland, and made a quantitative assessment on the ecological services function value. This paper provides a concrete quantity standard and scientific Basis for the people who try to restore the Dongting Lake wetland.This paper based on the concepts and evaluation system of the ecological services function, and consulted some approaches that concerned on ecosystem function value's assessment. In addition, it also made a quantitative evaluation by currency, using such methods like direct and indirect market evaluation, and even supposing evaluation. After discussion here, we can know the following 4 points.1.There is very large value in ecosystem services function of Dongting Lake wetland, especially large value in product-producing function. The value is in the front of our whole country's lakes ecosystem.2.The products' value takes 52.57% of the total ecosystem services function value. From the present land utilization condition of Dongting Lake region, we can see that the potential land capacity hadn't been used completely and reasonably. If we do that, the producing capacity of the land will reach to a new high point.3.In the whole ecological services function's value, the value of function that Dongting Lake adjusts and stores title flood takes 31.54% of the whole service function value. That function not only affects the safety the whole Hunan province, but also has close-relation to the controlling flood and safety of the whole Yangtse river basin. To restorethe ability of storing flood will reduce the loss of flood and waterlogged disaster so much that it will become a safety environment for the economy development in the whole Yangtse river basin.4.There is very large heritage and existent value of the ecosystem of Dongting Lake wetland. There grows many valuable and rare species, some of which are scattered thickly. The heritage value this paper calculates may be less than the real value for the following 3 points. Firstly, the data are not complete. Secondly, the standard of fixed price to rare wildlife is low since our country's productive force is not in a high level nowadays. Thirdly, the potential value of the wildlife's heritage and existent value actually couldn't be estimated exactly, for it depends on the "willing-to-pay"of individuals.So, we must restore the ecosystem of Dongting Lake wetland, and realize the sustainable development of Dongting Lake wetland. In order to reach this aim, the following 3 measures should be taken.Firstly, on the basis of preference principle, pay much attention to restore the two functions of Dongting Lake Wetland. One is the adjusting and storing flood function, which should be solved by combining the water resource engineer and biological controlling technology; the other is protecting bio-diversity function, which should be solved by building protect region.Secondly, on the basis of sustainable utilization principle, develop the productive function of Dongting Lake wetland. The main method is constructing many kinds of ecological agriculture model, which not only can improve the output of the wetland, but also can guarantee the sustainable use.Thirdly, to restore another functions must base on development and benefit principles, and can operate by means of biological technology and controlling the pollutant sources.This paper developed...
