In this paper the research object is the reciprocating baffled flocculation tank. The numerical simulation is applied to the flow field analysis in the tank. The thesis also does research on the coagulation efficiency in it.Firstly, the numerical simulation software, ANSYS, is applied to the flow field analysis in the tank. The paper analyzes the flow field influence to coagulation according to flocculation dynamics theory. The numerical simulation is applied to the research on the optimum value of A1/A2, where A1 is the area in the current corner; A2 is the area in the current passage. Secondly, the trace by dye emission is applied to verify the results of the numerical simulation. Finally, the experiment selects Al2(SO4)3 coagulant. Definite turbidity value wastewater is passed into the tank with the coagulant. When the coagulation reaction ends, efficiency of the turbidity value reduced in the tank is calculated.In the thesis numerical simulation and physical simulation are applied to the tank. The simulation results indicate that the hydraulic peculiarity, suspensible particles concentration and coagulant are the important factors to influence the tank efficiency. In the hydraulic design of the reciprocating baffled flocculation tank, attention should be paid to increase the quantity of small vortexes and control the reasonable effective collision of the coagulum. The paper draw the numerical simulation of hydraulic building into wastewater treatment project design, which has realistic engineering significance.
