The type of cation and their exchange degree are the important factors that influence the adsorption performance of zeolite adsorbents. In this paper ,the exchange abilities of alkine metal (Li, k) and alkine-earth metal (Mg , Ca) on 4A zeolite were investigated and the adsorption of CO and N2 on 4A zeolite exchanged by cation are also investigated. Firstly, 4A zeolite was exchanged by Li and K through continuous exchange method and fitful-frequent exchange method respectively. The ion exchange degree was measured by the ion chromatogram and the structure of different ion-exchange degree zeolite were detected with XRD. It was shown that exchange method, cation concentration and exchange times affect the exchange degree. Compare to continuous exchange method, byfitful-frequent exchange method can be reached a higher exchange degree with a short time. In addition, the properties of cation affect the exchange rate and the greatest exchange degree. The similar experiment which investigate the ability of exchange Ca and Mg on 4A zeolite was carried out .It can be concluded the exchange ability of Ca on the zeolite was higher than Mg. The greatest exchange degree of Ca was 87.17%, while Mg is only 51.48%.Finally, the adsorption of CO and N2 on the zeolite with different cation and exchange degree were studied . Meanwhile ,the relationship between exchange degree and the adsorption capacity were obtained ,which provided a benefical basis for the adsorbent selection and study.
