Select Xiqu 8# high sulfur coal as object, the basic characteristic of raw coal are discussed. And on this base the flotation kinetic characteristic with representative depressants are studied in details. The desulfuration feasibility by controlling flotation kinetics and using depressants are discussed in this paper and it is verified by the results of Industry test.The size analysis, float-and-sink test, batch-flotation, timed-release test of Xiqu 8# coal has been mAde and the distribution of particles and density, theoretical separationindex and basic characteristic of flotation are gotten. The analysis of results show that the floatbility of Xiqu 8# are better, the ash ,total sulfur and organic sulfur are higher and amount of pyrite arediscovered in the tailing.Flotation kinetics characteristics of Xiqu 8# coal has been investigated in details through timed-flotation experiments and the relationship between clean coal ash and sulfur with flotation time has been gotten. The results show that the the pyrite particles float more slowly than do coal particles and a significant mount of pyrite ultimately flow into the froth in flotation.Flotation rate test at different pH values has been made with different representative depressants such as vitamin C, hydrogen peroxide, thioglycolic acid, dithiodiglycolic acid, Ployferric Silicate and polyacrylamide. The relationship between clean coal ash and sulfur with flotation time has been meticulously studied with different representative depressants. Through the experiments hydrogen peroxide, dithiodiglycolic acid and Ployferric Silicate do better in dusulfuration. On this base pilot study has been mAde with mixed depressant. The results show that the interaction is obvious and this is useful in improving the efficiency of flotation dusulfuration.In this thesis the flotation rate tests was fitted by the first order and the n order equation and the relationships between flotation kinetics parameters and reagent condition has been gotten. The regulaity of flotation kinetics parameters with different depressants are studied in details in this thesis,selected the parameters of n order equation which the fitting error is smaller than first order equation.The samples analysis from flotation equipment of Xiqu preparation plant show that a significant amount of pyrite flow into the froth in the last cell and this verified that the pyrite particles float more slowly than do coal particles. The desulfuration efficient was higher than coarse particles though the sieve analysis and this tell that flotation do well with liberated pyrite.The results of this paper show that the desulfuration efficiency of dithiodiglycolic acid is very good and it is feasible to control flotation by flotation kinetics.
