In this paper ,the mechanism of curing reaction and methods of composing about phenolic resin used for slide plate and its present application were introduced simply. The factors which affect the structure and performance of the phenolic resin were also discussed, In order to settle the problems in common phenolic resin binder for refractory, the paper researched the probability of phenolic resin modified by molybdic acid . According to the result of research, we combined the synthesis mind with technical route of several metal modified phenolic resin , developed a new type of thermosetting Mo-phenolic resins. By the cross-experiment and its result analysis, we investigated the effect of some factors on synthesis process and determined the best process parameters. The rate of residual carbon of this thermosetting Mo-phenolic resins was more 13 percent point than common thermosetting phenolic resin's , so it's a better binder for refractory than common phenolic resin. Moreover, the composition, constitution and heat performance of Mo-PF were also analyzed by means of chemical method, IR spectra and TG-DTA graph. The results of making-bricks experiments illustrated that, in Mid-temperature zone (400 C~700 C), the strength of bricks bonded by Mo-PF was higher than common PF bonded brick's at larger extent. The disadvantage caused by the Mid-temperature zone strength decline was remedied at some extent. Therefore, this paper formed the basis for further settling the problem.
