In this paper, the mechanism of curing reaction and methods of composing about phenolic resin used for slide plate and its present application were introduced simply. The factors that affect the structure and performance of the phenolic resin were also discussed. In order to settle the problems in common phenolic resin binder for refractory, the paper researched the probability of phenolic resin modified by organophilic mont morillonite.Phenolic resin/mont morillonite nanocomposites could be prepared by intercalation polymerization. By the cross-experiment and its result analysis, we determined the best process parameters. The rate of residual carbon of this thermosetting PF/MMT was more 9 percent point than common thermosetting phenolic resin's, so it's a better binder for refractory than common phenolic resin. The organophnilic nanolayer of MMT was dispersed in phenolic resin; the matermial was nanocomposite that inspected by XRD.The results of thermogravimetry show that the heat-resistance of phenolic resin/mont morillonite nanocomposites was better than phenolic resin. And the results of making-bricks experiments illustrated that, in Mid-temperature zone, the strength of bricks bonds by PF/MMT was higher than common PF bonded brick's at larger extent. The disadvantage caused by the Mid-temperature zone strength decline was remedied at some extent. Therefore, this paper formed the basis for further settling the problem.
