Bamboo charcoal is the product from bamboo carbonized. It is a new functional and environmental protect material with abundant small-openings. It is a important way to the utilization of bamboo wood and realize the full use of bamboo. Bamboo charcoal has the favourable absorption properties to the contamination in the atmosphere. Because it has a advanced composition of small-openings. This study will be aimed at the absorption properties of bamboo charcoal on some kinds of commonly contamination in the atmosphere. It can provide some theoretical bases for the further use of the bamboo charcoal. We will inspected the absorptive quantity of the bamboo charcoal on the fine different kinds of gas in the different factors(velocity of the gas, the quantity of bamboo charcoal, the diameter of bamboo charcoal, time, temperature) and levels and set up the orthogonal experimental program. At the same time we will determine the saturation absorption of the bamboo charcoal and infer the regression. We can draw the following result through this experiment: To the different kinds of contaminative gas such as Formaldehyde, Benzene, Toluene. Ammonia, VOCS, every factor has different order on the absorption properties. We think the major influential factors of the absorptive quantity of the bamboo charcoal are temperature, diameter and quantity of bamboo charcoal. The result of the absorption of the bamboo charcoal is better when the temperature is between 10C and 20 C, diameter between 0.42->2.00 mm.Through the regression of the absorptive quantity and time, we can see that the absorptive quantity of the bamboo charcoal can get a better level but the change of the absorptive quantity with the time is not obvious after that time. To the pellets such as smoke, the absorptive quantity will increase continuously because the attraction of the two pellets.Through observing microstructure, we can see that bamboo form small-openings like hexagon after wood charcoal. The small-openings scatter and dimension is best well-distributed when the temperature get 700 C. The absorption of the bamboo charcoal will be more easily in this condition. The materials on the small-openings cannot volatilize full if the temperature too low and the structure is not very well. On the other hand the small-open will be too dense if the temperature too high.After all, bamboo charcoal is a kind of absorptive materials, which has simple technological process and better quality. It has a good absorption in the usual temperature. It is not only a economical but also a effective method that use bamboo charcoal on the purification of the atmosphere indoor.
