Alkylethoxyethanesulfonate is a kind of surfactant highly tolerant to high temperature and high concentration of electrolytes especially high valence of cationic ions such as Ca2+ and Mg2+,especially suit oil flooding in the conditions of higher salinity and higher temperature。As for some methods of synthesis of it,two synthesizing methods are studied,in order to search for optimal synthetic route.Route one: Alkylethoxyethanesulfonate is synthesized by the Willianson Reaction of sodium fatty alcoholpolyoxyethylene ether and chloroethyl sodium sulfonate. The synthesis of chloroethyl sodium sulfonate by SN2 substitution reaction of 1,2-dichloroethane and sodium sulfite is studied, At the reflux temperature, the presences of solvent and catalyst, the reaction time and the molar ratio between 1,2-dichloroethane and sodium sulfite are found to have significant effects on the reaction. The optimum conditions at reflux temperature, which are found by systematic orthogonal experiment studies, are as follows: react 10 hours under gentle stirring with N,N-dimethyl formamide as solvent, 5wt% PEG400 as catalyst, and a molar ratio of ClCH2CH2Cl and Na2SO3 of 7:1. A yield of 70.5% can be reached in such conditions. product is testified by literature graph of Infrared spectrum .then AEO3 react with chloroethyl sodium sulfonate by changing factor such as temperature, feed-type , solvent, hour, nitrogen. The optimum conditions : AEO3 react with sodium metal in the presence of methylbenzene as solvent , react 24 hours under nitrogen gas .then dried chloroethyl sodium sulfonate is added . methylbenzene is solvent, reaction temperature 80℃, and reaction time 8h.The purity of product can be reached 38.807% .Route two: Alkylpolyethoxychloride, an intermediate for preparing alkylethoxyethanesulfonate, was synthesized by the reaction of alkylpolyoxyethylene ether (AEO3 ) with thionyl chloride (SOCl2) in the presence of pyridine as solvent. A yield of 87.67% was reached at the optimal reaction conditions obtained: SOCl2/AEO3(molar ratio)=1.8:1, pyridine/SOCl2(molar ratio)=1:1, reaction temperature 70℃, and reaction time 10h. The structure of product is confirmed by IR spectrum. .then Hydroxyethane sulfonate react with sodium methoxide in the presence of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as solvent, alkylpolyethoxychloride is added, reaction temperature 80℃, and reaction time 9h,the purity is shown to be 17.1% by two phase titration of the product with Hyamine 1622,using mixed indicator.
