Profile is the most important index of strip quality, and that profile control is a key part of strip quality control system. For the demand of high quality products and high productivity in strip milling, profile control is expected to have higher precision and higher on-line regulation. Especially, profile control becomes more and more important with the abroad application of AGC system.At present, the number of Medium and Heavy Plate Mill is few, especially the number of mill whose roll length larger than 3000mm is 6, so the research and analysis about profile control for 3500mm mill is seldom in domestic plants. The paper makes further research on it by analyzing the national key scientific and technological equipment item "the Research on 70MN High Rigidity Rolling Mill and it' s transmission".Firstly, we ensure the regulating equipment for profile of 3500mm mill by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of differ regulating equipments for profile. Following, we elicit the computing formulas about work roll crown, on the basis of the research and analysis on differ elastic deformation theories of rolls (for example, the method of freely supported beam , the method of composite beam, the method of spring beam , the method of influence function, et) and three mathematics models on strip crown, by the speculative knowledge of mechanics of materials and theoretical mechanics. Because of the complexity of these computing formulas, we build seven differ finite element models, which include the finite element model between strip width and strip crown, the finite element model between work roll diameter and strip crown et, by ANSYS. At the same time, we calculate each instance by choosing a series of data. With that, we elicit seven computing formulas from these computed results by MATLAB. Finally, we table a proposal for perfecting the finite element model by comparing the result of finite element model with the result of theory model.On the basis of these theoretical analysis and calculate, we complete the program for "solve for strip crown and bending work roll force" software by PowerBuilder. The software has friendly interface and integrated function, and powerfully aided design.Under the circumstances of lacking information internationally and domestically, we independently complete the theory analysis and the finite element analysis about strip crown. Thus, we provide some more simple and practical computing formulas for regulating on-line profile, which keeps ahead in domestic.
