Due to its good water quality and convenient exploitation, groundwater has been becoming the most used fountain in exploitation. In China, particularly in northern drought and half-drought areas, the exploiting quantity to groundwater is becoming more and more. The sequence is that the underwater resource, even the whole underwater environment, is influenced badly, and even is destroyed. To protect groundwater environment and achieve the sustainable development of resource, it is necessary for us to study the ability of groundwater for bearing negative influences of the outside, that is, the study of the groundwater vulnerability. This paper has introduced the signification of this study and four methods in common use, such as index, figure simulating of the process, statistic and fuzzy mathematics, also introduced the enumeration of the advantages, disadvantages and applicability about each approach. In addition, it also including each factors and selected principles that be involved in the groundwater vulnerability.Based on the investigation of geographic and hydrogeologic conditions in the Dagu river area, the studied area is divided into lots of small zones by using buffer function of Maplnfo. A comprehensive vulnerability assessment is carried out with the popular DRASTIC model and the powerful map inquiry and calculation capacity of Maplnfo. Five different types of the groundwater vulnerability have been distinguished as strong, relatively strong, moderate, relatively weak and weak. Each area has been written in the vulnerability assessment map, and relevant developing conclusions and suggestions have been made. The study indicates that 60.8% belongs to moderate vulnerable area, 25.0% highly vulnerable area, and 10.1% weekly vulnerable area. Therefore, the entireDagu river groundwater reservoir is comparatively vulnerable to the groundwater contamination. High pollution projects should be avoided in the future, and fertilize and pesticide should be used reasonably, so as to prevent the groundwater contamination.
