In this paper, the extraction and purification of anthocyanins in Lonicera caerulea with Polymeric adsorbents was studied and high quality products of anthocyanins was obtained.Cyanindin-3-glucoside is the major anthocyanin in Lonicera caerulea.Earily studies have showed that Lonicera caerulea also contains the monor anthocyanins as Cyanindin-3,5-diglucoside, Cyanindin-3-rutinoside, Cyanindin-3-gentiobioside and Peonidin-3-glucoside.These anthocyanins impart positive pharmacological traits to natural compositions derived from Lonicera caerulea for they have strong antioxidant activities.Due to the above characteristics and benefits of anthocyanins, much effort has been put forth towards extracting these compounds from Lonicera caerulea. But the current methods available for isolating and purifying anthocyanins are not easily scaled up to an effiicient commerical process where disposal consideration of various chemicals and solvents play an important role in the overall feasibility of the process.Further, anthocyanins must be isolated in a manner which minimizes their natural properties. Two kinds of adsorbents with different structure were studied and one kind of new DVB macroporous adsorbent was prepared. The results show that anthocyanins can be adsorbed by two kinds of adsorbents with high yield and selectivity.Products containing 24% of anthocyanins were obtained.
