On Intergenerational Justice

With the development of economy, the traditional strategy of development has become more and more disable. People have been reflecting the traditional strategy and looking for a new countermeasure. An important problem which lies in the sustainable-development- viewpoint, is a problem of intergenerational justice. So, the intergenerational justice is originated from the environmental problem and the change of the viewpoint of modern development.The problem of intergenerational justice, mainly means a problem of dividing right and obligation about making use of natural resources and protecting environment between the living people and the future people. So, the problem of intergenerational justice, is different from the general justice the in many faces such as : firstly, the subjects which co-related each other are different, that's to say, the subjects consist of two parts, one is the contemporary people ( the present ), the other is the off-springs ( the not-present ).Secondly, the content of the justice is of special characteristic. In the relation justice, the content mainly means dividing rights and obligation between different generations about fairly making use of natural resources and protecting environment. Thirdly, because the content of the intergenerational justice is linked to environmental problem, the Black-box- way, can not be used to work out it. Fourthly, the intergenerational justice, is hidden in the other relations, instead of being visible.The reasons that cause the intergenerational justice are complicated. But, in general, I can say, there are three reasons. Firstly, people's misunderstanding of the relation between human and nature, the Absolute Human-centralism and its philosophical basis——the modern subjective philosophy; Secondly, human's unlimited demand of the resources and limited resources consists of a contradiction, and then leads to intergenerational interest-conflict. Thirdly, science and technology is inherently of side effects. Last but not the least, the mid-generational market-competition worsens the intergenerational justice.So, the ways to realize the intergenerational justice are the followings: First, walk out of the trap of the understanding of the nature, and correct the Absolute Human-centralism and the trend of absolutely dividing the world by two parts: subject and object. Rebuild a new conception that the subject and object is organically co-related. Adopt a correct attitude towards science and technology, and man's will as well. Second, chose controlling development strategy. Third, moral-control in the modern generation. Because, the modern generation is not present, cannot consult anything with the absentee, and cannot let justice prevail. In this condition, the realization of the intergenerational justice is only placed hopes on the morality-disciple of the contemporary people. Fourth, strengthen law building. Although the intergenerational justice, is a kind of moral care to the whole contemporary people, within generation, to realize the intergenerational justice has to based on the discipline and law. That's to say, dividing right and obligation on making use of natural resources and protecting environment within generational people on law so as to restrain the contemporary people from wasting natural resources. Only by this way can the right of the offspring be protected in surviving and developing.
