In this paper , a nanometer ceramic titanium dioxide has been successfully synthesized using a sol-gel method with titanium tetrachloride(TiCl4) as a precursor . After hydrolysis of TiCl4 , a titania can be obtained with diameter of range from l0nm to 60nm .During the experiment ,the particle size, crystal structure and dispersibility have been investigated in detail .There are many factors to influence the size and structure ,but the mainly is reaction temperature ,sintering temperature and drying ways . A mixture of anatase and rutile titania can be detected above the reaction temperature of 30℃. And the phase transformation temperature is range form 500℃ to 700 ℃ .When the sintering temperature reached 600 ℃ ,the size increases faster . In addition ,at the infrared drying , the particle size will be smaller ,and the rutile stucture is formed .Obviously ,the infrared drying offers the chance for the phase transformation .At present ,the dispersibility of particle is more and more regarded . In this paper , it can be seen that surface active agent , bathing infraredreaction and La3+ doped can all be improved the dispersibility . The experimental results shows that the sodium dodecylsulphonate is not so noticeable as the infrared reaction and La3+ doped titalia. According to these,it is an effective method to improve the dispersibility via changing the reaction system.In this paper infrared spectra, UV-Visible spectrum and Raman were used to characterize crystalline and microstuctures of the synthesized specimens . the result is that with the size superfine, the eigen peak moves to lower waves in Raman spectrum , and that the phenomena of blue shift has been seen both in infrared spectra and in UV-Visible spectrum . these prominent characteristics mainly depended on the interfacial constituent structure deflecting from the normal position , and on the size effect, interfacial effect, crystal field effect, size distribution effect, and quantum limited field effect etc.Finally ,the electricity and thermal property are studied on the nano-sized TiO2 . The experiments shows that it is the double-depletion -layer model that effects on the DC voltage -current characteristic.
