As the fundamental part of most mechanical equipments, the quality of bearing determines the performance of most mechanical equipments. Grinding is a very important process of bearing manufacturing, facing the difficulties of solving problems in bearing grinding process, the thesis develops a knowledge base system (KBS) of bearing ferrule grinding quality analyzing, based on the wild exploration into the relevant papers and present achievements of KBS. And give the example of application.The whole thesis is divided into six chapters:Chapter one illustrators the present situation of grinding and issues in bearing manufacturing, introduces the present status of the development of knowledge base system (KBS), and then putforward the research topic of this thesis-study on the KBS for bearing ferrule grinding qualityanalyzing based on ontology.In chapter two, we discuss the structure of the knowledge base system, and give the functional module of it. In this chapter, also considering the ontology theory and its frame, and introduce the concept of ontology, and it's classifying, it's formation, it's language. For the language, we emphasis on the object-oriented and web-oriented language OWL.Knowledge acquisition is the key of the knowledge base system design. In chapter three, we discuss the distilling of the process information. This chapter tells how to create the knowledge ontology for grinding quality analyzing, on the whole, finish the knowledge ontology capturing.In chapter four, creating relations among the related ontology by characteristic mapping, come into being the knowledge needed. And based on the analysis and comparison of the five ways of knowledge expression, we put forward the O-O knowledge expression method for the system. In this chapter, the structure of the knowledge base system is discussed.Based on above system requirement analysis, in chapter five we discuss the system structural module. And illustrates the development of the knowledge base system under protege 2000 and RACER, and describe the application analysis with examples.Finally, chapter six makes a conclusion of the whole thesis and puts forward the future research in this field.
